{"id":1870,"date":"2023-10-06T11:24:42","date_gmt":"2023-10-06T09:24:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ezfreight.co.za\/index.php\/2023\/10\/06\/media-release-constitutional-court-decision-on-duty-free-purchases\/"},"modified":"2023-10-06T11:24:42","modified_gmt":"2023-10-06T09:24:42","slug":"media-release-constitutional-court-decision-on-duty-free-purchases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ezfreight.co.za\/index.php\/2023\/10\/06\/media-release-constitutional-court-decision-on-duty-free-purchases\/","title":{"rendered":"Media Release: Constitutional court decision on duty-free purchases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>6 October 2023 &#8211; The Commissioner for the South African Revenue Service (SARS), Mr Edward Kieswetter, has welcomed the decision of the Constitutional Court in the matter between Nu Africa Duty Free Shops (Pty) Ltd and Others and the Minister of Finance and Others.<\/p>\n<p>The matter arose when the SARS Commissioner identified and reported abuse in the system where certain diplomats were purchasing duty-free tobacco and alcohol in South Africa and reselling them in the domestic market.
